Hey Ladies, how are you all?

I'm doing well with the studies, well, as well as can be expected from someone who really doesn't like studying lol.

Things are coming along nicely with the new blog too and I've just finished working on a fantastic new collab kit with my dear friend Julie C from the Studio. Thats due to be released very soon so keep an eye open for it.

With the re-launching of Booland drawing ever closer the Blossoms and I have decided to open some new spots on the team. As you probably know, these don't come up very often at all so if you ever wanted to be a Blossom nows your chance.

Procrastination is a Con Man. Don’t get sucked in…..and a freebie

According to Wikipedia Procrastination refers to the deferment of actions or tasks to a later time. Psychologists often cite such behaviour as a mechanism for coping with the anxiety associated with starting and/or completing any task or decision.

Have you ever said to your self, ‘I can’t do this now’ or ‘it can wait until tomorrow’ even though you know it should really have been done yesterday?

Do you ever try and justify those feelings of guilt or anxiety by making excuse after excuse for why you didn’t get that task completed on time?

I’ve been going through just such a phase in my life recently. I felt confused as to why my blogging had come to a full stop or why I hadn’t yet filled in the forms to continue the last stage of my studies or why I tend to hide away in my home glued to the computer, supposedly ‘working’ when really I’m browsing everyone else’s work.. The later of these has only served to help my procrastination continue unchecked.

For instance, I tell myself that my browsing is work. After all, I need to see what the current market trends are don’t I? In actual fact, every new product I see just reaffirms my own feeling of failure that my product is no longer as good as it could be.

I’ve spent a fortune, and I do mean a fortune, on video tutorials and online classes to improve my design skills and I’ve been diligent in organizing these but I’ve yet to actually complete a single one.

I have a lot of friends, or at least, I did. I’m too busy these days working to keep in touch though. And then, as time slips from days to weeks to months and even in some cases, years, its been too long since I last had contact that I shy away from making contact again in case they reject me. After all, it was me that stayed away.

My home, of which I’m so proud, or so I tell myself, looks like a bomb hit it most of the time. It’s gotten so bad I avoid letting anyone in anymore because I’m too embarrassed. Oh, its not ‘dirty’, just incredibly untidy and messy and I can’t think in mess, it depresses me but I have no idea where to start to clean it up.

And there has to be a reason why, despite making it my New Years Resolution every year since the year dot, I still can’t drive at almost 50.

Whats wrong with me? Why am I behaving this way? Why all these nonsense excuses?

Well, according to It's About Time author Dr. Linda Sapadin there are six types of procrastination that a person can be solely or a combination of. The styles are The Perfectionist, The Crisis-Maker, The Dreamer, The Defier, The Worrier and The Overdoer. Each title is self explanatory though each has a unique way of overcoming each type

Now, I haven’t read the book, I only came across this analogy while trying to figure out what my problem was but it struck home. I found I recognized myself and it was both a shock and a relief to find myself or rather, my behaviour, listed here.

I definitely relate to the Worrier and according to Dr Sapadin my particular procrastination style is as follows

The Worrier

“But I’m afraid to make a change!”

Worriers tend to have a too small comfort zone and hesitate to leave their cocoon. They try to avoid risk or change, which, of course, is quite impossible. Lacking confidence in their own abilities and decision-making, they often let deadlines quietly pass rather than take an active approach to getting things done and initiating activity.

In her article she suggests certain activities to help the procrastinator overcome their problem and this is what she suggests for my type.

What to Do

THINKING: It’s better to make a mistake and learn from it, then to keep avoiding tackling something new. Develop more confidence in your abilities—if you don’t know something, ask or research the answer.

SPEAKING: Worriers often catastrophize events by a “What if” question. When asking a question, look for answers. Don’t ask a rhetorical question to just raise your anxiety level.

ACTING: If something seems too overwhelming, break a project down into chunks that you can confidently handle. If there are areas that you truly don’t know enough about, take a course, read a book, don’t continue your ignorance

WOW….

I must be honest. I was surprised how accurate her description of my feelings was. Even I hadn’t realized that’s what I was doing and why I was doing it. I even think I understand how it all began, going right back to my childhood when I was a very shy child, constantly told I would amount to nothing. Well, my procrastination has proved those people right after all.

The wonderful thing is, there is hope, a light at the end of the tunnel and apparently, I hold the key. If I follow Dr Sapadins suggestions, if I allow myself the option of ‘trying again if it doesn’t work this time’ instead of ‘I can’t afford to fail there fore I won’t try’, then I may actually get something done.

Its better then doing nothing isn’t it? And after all, doing nothing is the biggest failure of all, isn’t it?

So, I’m organizing my life, doing what I need to do first, what I want to do next and I’m taking it all one day at a time, in small bite size pieces. It may take a while to get there but at least I’m on the road.

Be patient, good things are coming to BooLand again, but not just yet. First I need to finish my studies. But do please keep checking back, every now and then there will be a little something for you to pick up here while I complete the necessary work. And then, ohhhh, just wait and see.

Thanks for the Freebie. Procrastination is my friend! I too have a house that is a mess, Hubby & I just started with one small thing each - Him the mass of papers next to his chair and me the mass of papers in the bedroom. I found those plastice boxes that hold hanging file folder on sale 2 for one and the hanging floders on sale also. We are doing this in hope of tackling the 'office' before the cat shredds all the papers that need filing in there. The key for me has been to jump, don't look just jump and the he** with what everybody else thinks. If I miss the Christmas card mailing I do a valantines day card (30+ hand made all the same) and if I miss that (hasn't happen yet) there's alway St. Patty's Day, Easter, Earth Day... YOu get the idea. Some of my Friends & Family only get the 'card' a few get the joke e-mails that get forward. I DO NOT DO NEW YEARS RESOLOTIONS! Always fail at those, so I quit - Ilearned to quit setting myself up for failer just pick something that can be done in one or two days or nothing will ever get done. Hello everyone, did you all have a wonderful Christmas? I sure did. Remember I told you I knew there would be no surprises for me this year as I was getting a Bike from Jay? Well, I was wrong and oh boy, how wrong I was…. hehe. Not only did I get a fantastic new bike which, believe it or not, is called Blossom, I also got an entire new wardrobe of gorgeous clothes and a bottle of Diamonds perfume as well. To say he ‘floored’ me this year is putting it mildly hehe. He sure knows how to put a great big grin on my face bless him.

Well, New year is still a little way off for us in the UK but I thought I’d post my little New Year giftie to you a little early as Jay and I and the girls are planning a little New Year Celebration ourselves tonight.

Xmas Goodies – Day 6

Its Christmas Eve and I’m so excited. I know, I’ve always been a big kid at heart and Christmas Eve is my favourite day of the year. All that anticipation, will he come,? won’t he? what will he bring? Jay and I started a little tradition of our own a few years back. We now open our gifts to each other late on Christmas Eve night along with a lovely glass of bubbly. Its magical, just ours and it means we can give the whole of Christmas day over to the kids which works great. I know what I’m getting this year though so no surprises for me. It was a bit too big to hide, lol, a new bike so I can ride to school with Elly instead of walking the two miles each way every day. Oh thank you Santa hehe. I have leg muscles like an athlete these days.

Xmas Goodies - Day 2

Hello again everyone. WOW, the weather here has been a little mad these last couple of days with temperatures dropping big time. Yesterday we had our first proper snow in Southport for ages. Of course, it lasted all of maybe an hour before it had turned to black slush on the roads...uggghhhh. Today its hailed really hard and the cold is biting but hey, the positive note is we might just get our White Christmas for the first time in years wohoooooo.

Our Christmas Party Event should kick off tomorrow although we might have a few problems with our server due to the change over to our super dooper new fast one so if that happens, my apologies and please be patient. How are you all today? Looking forward to your Thanksgiving dinners and family gatherings I hope. The SASiest Halloween yet

Hi everyone. Wow. this month has just been crazy for me. I've had a real 'head like a sieve' month lol. I got an awesome deal from ArtsCow for 5 20 page books and 5 39 page books so I've been working like crazy putting them all together to get them ordered in time. Well, I'm delighted to say I have got them all and they came out fantastically. I think I'm going to have some very happie family members this Christmas hehe. So anyway, thats why I have been MIA but its all done now so I can get back to having some fun.

A little freebie from me...

It was our annual Musical Fireworks Championship this last weekend and although Sunday nights entries were cancelled due to strong winds (the first time ever in 11 years) we had a wonderful time watching the 5 entries that did manage to display.

Its my absolute favorite event in Southport for the year and we are lucky enough to have quite a few great events here. Last years winners were Jubilee and to say they were awesome is an understatement. The competitors have to produce a display lasting between 15 and 20 minutes and are judged on timing to the music and artistic interpretation.

This year it was Flashpoint Fireworks who won. ( I didn't catch the name of the team I thought were the best and no ones uploaded a video of them so I don't know if it was these but they were as good as Jubilee last year) Since there's no video of my fav this year I'm showing you last years winners. Sorry about the video but it was the only one I could find that included the music and it is, after all, the 'Musical' Fireworks championship so I think the music is pretty important. Anyway, it gives you an idea of just how great these displays are. It comes in 2 parts and be sure to have your speakers on so you can hear the fantastic music too.

Hi everyone,

How are you all today? Its been a very blustery day here in not so sunny Southport with some really horrible hard showers which naturally start just as Im taking or collecting Elly from school so I got soaked good'n'propper both ways.

Jay also started his new job as Assistant Principle this week. He walked in on his first day to find his new office in a total shambles including half filled coffee pot and cups that had been there all summer holidays....ewwwwww! Today he sent me a photo of his lovely 'tidy' office after spending the day re-organising it with his 'new secretary'. Oh yes, he's gone up in the world hehe. Apparently she wouldn't let him do a thing today and kept bringing him cups of tea. Me thinks they will get on just fine lol. The best thing about his job is he's saving 2 hours a day in travelling so now he gets home around 5ish and doesn't have to leave at the crack of dawn anymore, wohooo. We like that very much.

SASy Color Challenge for September

I am soooooooooooo happy to be doing the fantastic SASy Color Challenge again. This month I started out with a little mini Starter kit for you to join in with if you wish but I got carried away and along with our wonderful Blossom Michelle, I ended up making quite a bit more so YOU get to enjoy even more FREE for this month only.

You can grab the kit via my SAS store FREE. Please check out the color challenge too and have a go. We LOVE to see what you come up with. You can use my starter kit to create a lo. Use at least three of the color challenge colors and any kit of your choice (please remember credits in your post) to create your lo and you can even have a go at creating your own QP's or mini kits using at least three of our colors for this month to share with us all. You'll find all the rules and instructions over at SAS here. Its as easy as pie so have a blast.

New SAS Guidelines for Challenges

AS is changing it's ways. Our challenges are still alive & well and, well, challenging. But we've made some changes in the way we are running them:

Posting Bonuses will no longer be a part of SAS.
Instead we are moving to a point system.
Each challenge offers each participant 10 points for the first LO, 5 points for each additional LO.
If a participant completes all challenges in one month, she earns a 100 point BONUS.
100 points = $1 to the store.
Points may be redeemed at any time.
Now, individual Designers (most notably Boo & her Colour Challenge, and Kimberkatt with the Template Challenge) may still do some "starter" freebies... however, all challenges will give points not posting bonuses (aka mini kits) as participation prizes. The good news for you is coupons are as good as cash! And who doesn't love money????

and as promised here is the first of several Blog Freebies to match my September Color Challenge Starter Kit. This is a huge ALPHA. Ok, so most of you will know I've had major issues with my pc etc. I didn't manage to get a new pc sadly, thats still in the pipeline though, but at least I got this one working to a degree so I've been frantically trying to catch up with everything. I didn't want to post until I had a little treat for you all too.

Anyway..... here's the update for you all.

BooLand Store

You may have noticed that my header has disappeared??? I just did and it seems my store is not available?? It may well be that somewhere in this mountain of emails there is one from the hosts telling me my subscription is due. If that is the case, and I think it is, then this is as good a time as any to have a good old clear out. I don't plan on re opening my store at the moment since there is so much going on with my other stores but for all those who purchesed products from there recently, please be assured that your links should still be active for 45 days following your completed order.

Now, yipeeee, cause that means BooLand can have a nice fresh Makeover hehe. Ohhhhh what shall it be?? Got any suggestions??

New Stores

BooLand recently opened a new store at DigiDesignResort, Wohooooo. I've only got a few of the kits uploaded to the store at the moment but I will be adding them bit by bit along with new ones I'm in the process of creating so do keep an eye open for that.

I am also delighted to announce that as of today BooLand will also be selling at WeScraps. For those of you who love to scrap traditionally (paper) and Hybrid, you'll love this store as it has just about everything you could possibley need for your hobby. And today, for the first time, they have opened their doors to include a whole Digital section so you are truly going to be spoiled for choice. Check them out here.

And I have yet more news.... oh yes....lol... Keep your eyes open for a brand new super dooper digi store opening its doors very soon. Its going to be awesome with tons of lovely new things, great challenges and competitions and goodies and some awesome Designers too so keep your eyes and ears open for news of its launch date. I can't tell you more just yet but I can tell you that I will have two brand new kits ready for the Grand Opening and a little bird tells me there is to be a fab Grand Opening Sale too, wohoooooooo. I'll pop a little tease on here soon.

Best news of all....

As Im sure many of you know, my first digi home, SAS, has recently undergone some very difficult times with our lovely sasy owner, Julie, going through a very difficult time to the point where she felt unable to continue SAS. We really thought SAS was about to close (arrgghhh) but thankfully, the day was saved when Toiney aka PiggyScraps stepped up and took on the challenge. Way to go Toiney.

OMG, she is doing just an awesome job at SAS with all sorts of fantastic things planned and the forums are full of excitement for the future. We have new Designers on board including our very own Blossom Trudie, aka ScrapBrat (isn't she awesome) as well as new challenges being created, competitions being hatched with fantastic prizes and the atmosphere is WONDERFUL, I LOVE my SAS. OMG.....
Can you believe I've been OFFLINE for so long?? I can't. It's been like living in a closet with slats in the doors. I could peek out every so often and yearn for the light but then somebody would turn off the light and I'd be in the dark again....arghhhhh.....

Christmas Around the World

Its definately begining to feel like Christmas around here. How many of you have got your tree and decorations up already?? I am hoping to get mine done over the weekend if I can.

When Danny and Mikey were little we used to put all the dates from the 1st to the 24th December into Jack the Hat (an old trilby from out of the dressing up box) and we would all pick out two tickets. The winner was the earliest date out of 'Jack' and that would be our 'Tree Day', hehe. We'd have a little Tree Day party with kiddy party food and Christmas music and spend the whole afternoon decorating our tree. The boys loved it.

Sadly, we lost Jack the Hat so these days I tend to just pick a day that has the least going on hahaha. Poor Elly doesn't get half the fun her big brothers used to have at Christmas but we make up for it in other ways. She gets to bake mince pies instead hehehe.

Well, today is Christmas Around the World day finally and OMG, Ladies, these Designers have truly out done themselves. There are sooooo many fantastic goodies I don't know where to begin.

Helloooooo Everyone and welcome back.

I sure hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and treated yourselves to lots of goodies during the awesome Black Friday Sales. Although Im a Brit, we had our own little Thanksgiving Dinner, cooked by Jay, yummy….. and thanks to my Blossoms sending me a tin of Pumpkin Pie filling, we even had Pie. Elly was our official photographer so heaven knows what the photos will turn out like haha. Jess made the Pie and it was amazing. I’ve never had it before. WOW, You guys have been holding out on us. Well, as soon as I get chance, I hope to make some lo’s to show off our day so keep your eyes peeled for that, It should be fun haha.

OMG..... my pc DIED on me. The AUDACITY! lol. Its taken forever to figure out the problem which I never would have guessed. It turned out to be the actual pc itself. I had no idea that they fix them to have a 'lifespan'... Whats that all about????

Anyway, I won't bore you all with the details. Sufice to say we got it working so so in the end and I have a fab goody for you. I really thought I was going to miss this months challenge with my pal KimB but hey, life is full of little miracles isn't it.

A couple of quickie notes. Sharon hun, thankyou so much for your good wishes. Its good to know there are folk out there looking out for me.

We have had a ton of problems with the new forum and gallery which I can only apologise for. It hasnt been helped by the fact that my pc went down either. We have decided to close them both for now while we work on them. I'll keep you posted as to our progress on that. Meanwhile, a few of you asked if I would still be doing the Booland Color Challenge. Well heck yes..... We will host it on my blog for now until we get the forum and gallery fixed. Hang in there. I am setting up a Gallery/blog just for your lo's so I'll post the info as soon as I have it and.... if I say so myself... I'm rather pleased with Decembers starter kit and PB, yummylicious is all I'm going to say, hehe.

Your DADs for the Weekend and Forum news

Hello and welcome back everyone.

WOW, can you believe we are nearly at the end of our October DADs? Its been a crazy kind of a month here in BooLand but we are begining to see the light at last.

We have a Brand new and fully functional Gallery that we hope you will all love. Whats more, we have our very own forum also up and working. You only need to register in one of them to be automatically registerd in the other which is great news isn't it?

Of course, there are bound to be some hiccups along the way. Does't every new house have settling cracks lol. I'm sure we'll be no exception but I have NO DOUBTS our fab booland members will excuse the odd 'baby burp' while we make Booland a hip and fun place to be.

First hiccup is that as yet we do not have a working link from the Blog here to the forum but thats being fixed. Meanwhile, to get in and register, simply click on the GALLERY in the header and you'll be able to navigate from there. We can't wait to welcome you all to our home. Fresh tea and scones are on the table so please make yourselves at home.

Oh, and we want YOUR suggestions. If you think of something that you feel would add to the fun at BooLand, please let us know.

And since its the weekend, I have for you your weekend DAD's, all available now through our store so do pop along and grab yourwelf some goodies.

Gallery and Forum Update...

Hello and Welcome back...

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I have some important news for you all regarding our new Gallery and Forum.

As you know, the gallery we had originally was very difficult to navigate and upload to. As a result of the messages we got regarding the problems we decided to invest in a much better 'user friendly' Gallery and we also decided to add a Forum for all of our members at Booland. A nice happy place for us all to meet and keep up with the various things going on here.

Unfortunately, these plans have not gone as smoothly as we'd hoped. We have discovered after much difficulty that the current gallery has to be completely 'deleted' for us to be able to install and set up the new and better gallery. This means sadly that all of the lo's in there now will be lost. We have tried desperately to find a way to save them and transfer them over to the new gallery but this is not possible so please accept my deepest apologies to all of you who have spent time uploading your wonderful lo's so far and for those of you who have entered our challenges too. We feel just awful that you took time to do this and they will now be lost

BUT

The good news is that once the old gallery is gone and the new gallery installed, it will be MUCH EASIER to find your way around, set up your galleries and upload your fab lo's and we sincerely hope you will do just that. We have done this for YOU, our wonderful members and we truly hope you'll feel the extra little time involved will be well worth the effort. Once the Gallery is set up, the new Forum will also be ready to enter. You will find all our challenges and lots of other things there as well. We are sure you'll enjoy your time there.

As soon as everything is ready to go, I will let you all know. Meanwhile PLEASE DO NOT UPLOAD TO THE GALLERY.

We're growing.....

Hello and welcome back every one...

Well, you may have noticed we've grown another leaf in our header! Yes, we now have our very own BooLand Forum where we can all get together for chit chat, challenges, fun and games.

Ok, so its empty at the moment lol but hang in there. We are just waiting for our brand new, easy to navigate Gallery to arrive some time next week and we will be charging ahead with a whole host of great things. For now, the leaf is not clickable but as soon as we have everything in place I'll let you know and you can pop along to register and so on... Exciting stuff huh!

and since its Friday and we have Jess with us this weekend I've added all three DADs to the store for you to collect as I won't be around much until Monday. Have fun.

I wanted to bring to your attention this gorgeous brand new kit by Bren of Millstream Cottage over at SAS. She and some friends have put it together in aid of US Navy boys over in the gulf.

Fantastic Fireworks....

Hello everyone. I hope you all had a great weekend. As you know, I was headed toward the Marine Lake in town for the annual British Musical Firework Championship Event. Its set over 3 days, usually two shows per night but this year we celebrated 10 years of the show (and I'm proud to say I've attended every single one, lol) so it was extra special with all the previous winners attending. So on Saturday we had 3 sets.

OMG, Friday was soooooooooooo cold my poor mum had to go home before the show even started. She was BLUE. I had Elly wrapped up in huge coat and a blanket but I thought my fingers were going to drop off lol. Still, I was not going to give in to the cold and stayed to the end and it was well worth it. The two shows were absolutely fantastic.

Saturday was almost as bad. We got soaked to the skin. The rain poured down but it didn't stop people venturing out to enjoy the shows which again, were totally breath taking but.... Sunday... oh Sunday was perfect. The weather was fantastic, calm and warm and clear as a bell and the fireworks were the best I have ever ever seen in my life. What a fantastic end to a great weekend. I'm so lucky we have this event in our little town.

I still don't know who won though I have my favourites. I am attempting to upload some of the videos I shot to YouTube but they are pretty BIG so I may not be lucky. That would be such a shame because I would love for you to see just why I get so excited. They really are spectacular.

Anyway. If they upload ok, I'll edit this post with a link. Believe me, you won't be sorry you took a moment to pop on over and have a look.

Ok. WOW, well the DAD's are proving popular and I'm so thankful we managed to fix the problems in the end. A huge thank you to our Michelle and to Lori over at SAS who was a star coming to the rescue. I hope and pray we have ironed out most of the kinks but as with most things, that is never really possible is it so please bear with us. We are trying our best.

The Weekend is here.....

Wohoooooo. I'm excited becuase this weekend is the British Firework Championship and whats more, we are celebrating its 10th year so all the previous winners are putting on shows for us. Tonight we have last years winners kicking the event off. They were fantastic last year so I'm really looking forward to it. It had to be my most favourite event of the year in Southport. More about the shows next week.

Our First Challenge

For the weekend I wanted to give you a heads up on our very first Booland Challenge which is being hosted by our lovely Lynn. We are doing a FONT challenge. I love fonts. Finally, after hours and hours and LOTs of emails we finally got the DAD's to download so they are now working fine. Phew. I've never been so close to tears so many times as I have today, lol. And do you know what the problem was? it was this little inoffensive thing ' thats right, the apostrophy. Silly me added it to the file name and Zen cart apparently doesn't like them. Now I know.

* A little Edit* If you grabbed the DAD's during the problems and have them waiting in your account, Please re order ans we had to change the file names for them to work so the items in your account will not work as the files no longer exsist. Thanks ladies for being so understanding.

Here we are and we are so so glad you joined us on this VERY special day.

The Blossoms and I have been working for months to get everything ready for the BIG MOVE and its so strange that we are finally here. Its been like waiting for Christmas, hehe.
